Jean Bonnefons (1554-1614) was a Latin poet from Clermont. He was lieutenant general of the bailiwick of Bar-sur-Seine. He enjoyed considerable success in his time, his contemporaries compared him to Catullus. Gilles Durant (1544-1615), sieur de la Bergerie, was himself from Clermont in Auvergne. He was a lawyer at the Parliament of Paris and a poet. He is one of the authors of the Satire Ménippée.
