    Charles-André Julien was one of the leaders of the Communist Party in Algeria. He left it in 1926 and contributed to the journal Clartés edited by Henri Barbusse.

    Signed autograph manuscript entitled "A Compiègne et au Palais Bourbon" by Léon Blum, 3 and a half pages in blue ink, on the verso of four sheets with letterhead from the newspaper Le Populaire (Central Organ of the Socialist Party S.F.I.O). Numerous passages crossed out and rewritten in black ink. Horizontal fold mark on each sheet, notes from a previous bibliographer in pencil at the head of the first sheet.
    The article appeared in the daily newspaper Le Populaire on March 9, 1948.
    Fine and virulent diatribe by Léon Blum, following General De Gaulle's Compiègne speech, denouncing his maneuvers toward a "strong State." He paints a hopeful...

I confess to you in all frankness - that the very substance of the article was troublesome for our readership. First, in your enumeration, a term was missing: the priests. Don't forget that we are sectarians. Furthermore, a sentence about financiers could seem, in our publication, rather singular..." and...
