Sacha Guitry, already known as a dramatic author, decided to use an amateur camera to "engrave in images," for future generations, the great personalities who contribute to France's radiance. Among others, one discovers Edgar Degas, Anatole France, Lucien Guitry, Octave Mirbeau, Claude Monet, Auguste Renoir, Auguste Rodin, Edmond Rostand and Camille Saint-Saëns.

Portrait of the actress taken in New-York during the great American tour of 1880-1881 (256 performances in 50 cities). Sarah Bernhardt poses in elegant Parisian attire, her gaze turned skyward. Signed in the plate: Copyright by A. Dupont. Good overall condition, one dark stain on the right of the photograph, near the margin.
Aimé Dupont was a Belgian photographer, first active in Brussels, then in Paris. He settled in New-York with his American wife Etta Greer, herself a photographer. Already in Paris, the photographer had specialized in photographs of actors and singers from the Opera, and he renewed this specialty for the New-York opera and all the French artists who came to the USA. It is therefore not surprising that Sarah Bernhardt visited his studio to create a recent photograph dedicated to her American tour.

This portrait of the actress was taken in Sydney during her tour of the Australian continent in 1891. Sarah Bernhardt poses as an elegant Parisian woman admiring herself in a hand-held mirror.
Sydney was abuzz with excitement in June 1891 - Sarah Bernhardt was about to arrive! And yet the tour was almost severely curtailed, as the great actress was traveling from San Francisco with her two dogs, Chouette and Star. But Australian law, designed to combat rabies, stipulated a six-month quarantine period her inseparable companions... She went to visit them on the island where they were confined, and even acquired a Saint Bernard and a koala in Australia.
Signed and inscribed by Sarah Bernhardt: "To my young and charming pupil Georges Leroy, all my sympathy. Sarah Bernhardt 1908."
356th member of the Comédie Française, Georges Le Roy was a pupil of Mounet-Sully and Sarah Bernhardt at the Conservatoire. He graduated with first prize for comedy in 1907, and went on to perform at the Sarah Bernhardt Theater. The following year, she probably offred him autographed portrait on the occasion of his admission into the Comédie Française. As teacher at the theater Conservatoire, Leroy trained a whole generation of talented actors, including Gérard Philippe.

Bound in full marbled sheepskin, back smoothes decorated with arabesques and gold theater masks, gilded wheels on the caps, golden motto of Sarah Bernhardt "Still" topped the first board, a scratch on the sidelines of the first flat, and guards contreplats of handmade paper, frame with golden lace on contreplats, gold piping on the cuts, gilded head, contemporary binding.
Signed autograph Sarah Bernhardt Madame Hernalsteen for which it was connected the book and she should offer him.
