Erycio Puteano|In Anversa [Antwerp] • (Ristampare in Colonia) [Cologne] 1630|15.50 x 22 cm|relié
Reprint of the original published by the same publisher in 1629. A title-frontispiece with the Antwerp lion at the top.
Contemporary full vellum binding. Smooth spine. Title in black ink executed at a later date. Slight lack of vellum at foot with some wormholes. The body of the work is only held to the spine by a few stitches before the frontispiece. A yellow dampstain on the final leaves, notably with lacks to margins on the last two leaves of the table.
The texts present in this edition would later form the history of the Flemish wars. Bentivoglio spent 9 years in Flanders as the Pope's ambassador. After a classical presentation of the situation in the Low Countries, he narrates its political history, unity and studies its European situation, the history of its successions and its wars.
