Original drawing heightened with black, green, red and blue felt-tip pens, captioned in blue felt-tip pen "Le grenier d'Arlequin" and in red "Maquette couverture du livre" representing a harlequin seated on a stool and working at his writing table, a black and red owl at his feet. This cover design project for the book was not retained but strongly inspired the cover finally illustrated with a harlequin posing standing slightly leaning backwards. The verso of the drawing contains annotations in blue felt-tip pen and an original portrait of Georges Simenon with pipe in mouth. Carlo Rim was a Provençal writer, author notably of "Ma belle Marseille", a caricaturist, a filmmaker and was notably the friend of Fernandel, Raimu and Marcel Pagnol but also of Max Jacob and André Salmon whom he met in Sanary.
