New edition, considered a piracy of the regular edition published in Paris by the Imprimerie Royale. It is illustrated with 17 folding plates. Contemporary full marbled glazed calf binding. Decorated raised bands spine, roulettes at tail and head. Red morocco title label, and volume label in brown wax. A cut at head. Scattered foxing. Good copy. Of particular note in each of the mentioned sections are the following remarkable articles Anatomy: On the force that pushes blood in the foetus; Botany: On Ginseng; Astronomy: On the theory of eclipses, on the movement of Jupiter. As for the memoirs, we note with the greatest interest: Observation on the manner in which a girl without tongue performs the functions that depend on this organ, by M. Jussieu. Observation of the eclipse of the star Aldebaran by the moon, by M. De La Hire, and by M. Cassini. Observation of the solar eclipse of March 1718 by M. de La Hire, Maraldi. Observation of the passage of Jupiter by Maraldi.
