Pietro da Bergamo (died 1482), whose real name was Almaldura, authored this work known as the tabula aurea (the golden table), as it became the unique and essential instrument for the reading and consultation of the works of Saint Thomas (see La tabula Aurea di Pietro da Bergamo by T. Sterli Trento, published in 2003). The tabula is a universal index to the entire work of Thomas Aquinas. A second part, with separate pagination, comprises another index: Concordantiae dictorum et conclusionum divi Thomae de aquino. Finally, a last part lists entries by biblical term (Psalms, Daniel, Deuteronomy, etc.). This new edition is the work of Vincenzo Giaccari. Having been revered as a saint during his studious life as a Dominican friar, Fra Pietro da Bergamo was laid to rest in the crypt of the chapel of Saint Thomas Aquinas.
