First edition. The privilege was shared with Mathieu Bonhomme in Lyon, as we find perfectly similar copies but with different addresses. Bilingual edition, with the text upstream and in italics, and 2 columns sharing the translation. Printer's device on title page.
Contemporary full brown sheep binding, certainly from Lyon. Spine with raised bands decorated with 4 fleurons. Title label in the first compartment, partly torn off. Central rectangular frame on covers, formed by 3 thick fillets, with fleurons in the corners and central gilt medallion. The whole rubbed and stained. A tear in the tail compartment causing 2 holes. 3 lacks along the edges. Pale dampstain in the lower part of the first leaves, including the title page; the same on the last leaves.
Outstanding edition of these Comedies of Terence produced by Antesignan. It includes 2 translations in 2 columns under the original text in italics, a literal translation and a paraphrastic translation, more interpretative. It contains notes on all the authors who had written on Terence (Melanchton, Erasmus, Scaliger, Muret...). To the right of the original text, Antesignan marks the accents on all words of more than 2 syllables, and next to each verse the way to scan them.
