Later half red shagreen binding, smooth spine decorated with gilt and blind fillets, paste paper boards with some small lacks, endpapers and pastedowns of pebbled paper. Edges with some tears, otherwise a handsome copy.
Exupère de Bayeux or Saint Spire was the first bishop of Bayeux. In the 9th century, during the Norman invasions, his relics were transported from Bayeux to the château de Palluau, then, in the following century, to the collegiate church of Saint-Spire de Corbeil by Count Haymon.
