Charles Picquet
Geographer to the King and to His Royal Highness the Duke of Orléans, engraver and publisher, Charles Picquet (1771–1827) was supplying maps to the Dépôt de la Guerre as early as 1798. In 1806 he joined Napoleon’s Topographical Office and retained appointments under the Restoration. His addresses progressed from the Quai Malaquais (1803–1804) to the Quai de la Monnaie (1811–1812), then to 17, Quai de Conti (from 1820). His workshop issued numerous plans of Paris and atlases (including the Atlas topographique… des environs de Paris, Year VIII) and contributed to the dissemination/continuation of Adrien-Hubert Brué’s work.
