Apud Benedictum rigaudum (Rigaud)|Lugduni [Leiden] 1570|10.50 x 17 cm|relié
New edition. The earliest edition is found at the British Library, 1498; this is likely the first edition, as Charles VIII died that same year. The work was reprinted several times during the 16th century.
Bound in rigid half vellum, late 19th century. Smooth Jansenist spine. Red shagreen title-label. Some light rubbing. Handsome copy with wide margins.
Some pale marginal dampstains.
The De Lubrico is a poem on human misery and deception, composed in the manner of numerous works of the period with first the poem itself, followed by its explanation and the circumstances that produced it (scholia).
Modern bookplate of the library of F. Renard pasted on front pastedown.
