Myriam Harry offers an enthusiastic critique of the historian's book: "Combien j'ai aimé et admiré "La guerre de sécession"... C'est un livre prodigieux, stupéfiant, éblouissant par la minutie et la profondeurs scrupuleuses de sa formidable érudition [...] par l'immensité ramassée de son sujet, ces puissances tranquilles du style et cette merveilleuse clarté qui entraîne les évènements historiques aux récits d'un roman si passionnant..." ("How I loved and admired 'The War of Secession'... It is a prodigious book, stupefying, dazzling by the meticulous and scrupulous depth of its formidable erudition [...] by the concentrated immensity of its subject, these tranquil powers of style and this marvelous clarity that carries historical events into the narrative of such a passionate novel...") so much so that she delights in reviving its atmosphere which transported her: "tantôt peignant au bord d'un bayou d'un autre ami, grand planteur de coton d'un domaine où caïmans, tortues géantes et serpents à sonnette se promènent sous d'éclatantes lianes..." ("sometimes painting by the edge of a bayou of another friend, great cotton planter of an estate where alligators, giant turtles and rattlesnakes roam under brilliant lianas...")
Myriam Harry hopes to see Pierre Belperron soon before overwhelming him again with praise: "En attendant cette bonne visite, laissez-moi vous remercier pour les charmantes heures instructives passées grâce à vous et veuillez me croire votre admiratrice. Et j'aéi oublié de vous féliciter du prix académique plus honorifique que l'eût été le Femina Vacaresco." ("While awaiting this good visit, let me thank you for the charming instructive hours spent thanks to you and please believe me your admirer. And I forgot to congratulate you on the academic prize more honorable than the Femina Vacaresco would have been.")

From the height of all her timidity, Myriam Harry did not want to solicit her fellow writer and receiving his inscribed work fills her with happiness : "Combien je suis heureuse de recevoir votre beau livre et même si aimablement dédicacé. Depuis quelque temps déjà je le désirais et n'osait vous le demander" ("How happy I am to receive your beautiful book and even so kindly inscribed. For some time already I desired it and dared not ask you for it")
Juror of the prize that Hélène Vacaresco had created to reward a literary essay and whose first prize was awarded to Marguerite Teillard-Chambon in 1935, Myriam Harry will not fail to support with her voice the candidacy of her correspondent: "vous pensez que je serai charmée d'apporter ma voix à une oeuvre profonde, et d'une si passionnante actualité." ("you think that I will be delighted to give my voice to a profound work, and one of such compelling topicality.")

Printed calling card of Lucien Rebatet on which he has added, on the front, these few words for a bookseller of his acquaintance located quai de Conti:
"Cher ami, Je vous envoie une excellente dame qui a travaillé pour nous et qui esr du pays. Tachez de lui donner un bon tuyau, et si elle veut vendre quelque chose, que ce soit dans les meilleures conditions.
Lucien Rebatet having added on the back of the card in pencil: "Cette dame a des livres de médecine à vendre. pouvez-vous lui donner un renseignement à ce sujet ? A bientôt."
Envelope included on which the author of "Deux étendards" has inscribed: Monsieur Blin bouqiniste (devant l'Institut). ("Dear friend, I am sending you an excellent lady who has worked for us and who is from the country. Try to give her a good tip, and if she wants to sell something, let it be on the best terms." / "This lady has medical books to sell. Can you give her information on this subject? See you soon." / Mr Blin bookseller (in front of the Institut).)

A very fine example of this rare avant-garde magazine, which "came into being over the course of a few dinners that brought together the dissidents of Surrealism and other poets in this hospitable abode [of Lise Deharme]. Robert Desnos provided the title. Georges Ribemont-Dessaignes was the editor. Man Ray had designed the cover: a silhouette of a lighthouse against a photographic background of sailing boats. [...] It contains curiosities: a tale by Petrus Borel, a photo by Nadar, popular songs, an investigation into the neurosis of war, epitaphs taken from a cemetery of animals. Among other curiosities, a sonnet by the famous psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan. It is entitled Hiatus irrationalis." (Jacques Baron, Cahiers de l'Herne Raymond Queneau, p. 333).

Strictly hors commerce edition illustrated with 64 original etchings by Yves Brayer and printed in 100 copies, all numbered on Arches wove paper, ours being one of 20 containing the suite on Japon Torinoko, and among these, one of the few copies enriched with 5 cancelled copperplate matrices.
Our copy is exceptionally enhanced with two original watercolors by Yves Brayer which he signed: one on a sheet of 27x19.5cm mounted on cardboard and presented under mat, representing an equestrian scene; the second, a Camargue landscape, on the half-title page and dedicated in pencil by the artist to Bernard Gauche.
The copy is also enriched with a greeting card for the year 1973, numbered and signed in the plate by Yves Brayer.

The work is presented in loose sheets, in double slipcases and chemises in full orange cloth in landscape format.
The first slipcase contains the original watercolor framed under mat, the illustrated cover and the text illustrated with 64 in-text engravings.

- A suite on Japon Torinoko of the 64 etchings under flap cover signed and numbered by hand by Yves Brayer. The first and last engraving are also signed in pencil by the artist.

Unique ensemble, undoubtedly one of the most enriched and personalized copies.
