Hachette & Cie, Paris 1861-1870 & 1872-1878, 22x31cm, 34 volumes reliés.

First edition.
Bindings in half tawny calf, back with five nerves adorned with gilded nets, title and year pieces of red and green morocco, plates of marbled paper, guards and contreplats of handmade paper, all gilded edges, bindings of the time.
Reds, the first volume (First half of 1861) bears a faulty title page at the date of 1882.
Many illustrations in the text.
The World Tour, created in January 1860 by Édouard Charton, designer of the Magasin pittoresque, and with the help of the publisher Hachette.
It is a weekly dedicated to travel and large expeditions that marked the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth, and which corresponds to the last great contemporary of exploration of the globe by Western travelers.
Beautiful set in elegant binding uniform of the time.
