Edmé BOURSAULT Théâtre de feu Monsieur Boursault

Edmé BOURSAULT

Théâtre de feu Monsieur Boursault

par La Compagnie des libraires, Paris 1746, in-12 (9,5x16,5), (1f. fx tit.) (1f. tit.) (3f. épit.) (16f. avert.) 542pp. et (1f. fx tit.) (1f. tit.) vij (1f. non-chif.) 10-528pp. et (1f. fx tit.) (1f. tit.) (1f. fx tit.) (6f. épit.) 535pp. (3p. priv.), 3 volumes reliés.

New Edition, "more beautiful and more comprehensive than 1725" (Brunet). Green half roan nineteenth. Back smooth decorated with triple gold fillets, golden initials tail. Some scuffs, cuts and rubbed corners. Author now forgotten Boursault had an important place in the theatrical life of his time. He even took an active part in the quarrels with Molière and Boileau. Some of his plays were very successful, and was one of the tragedies by Corneille himself compared to those of Racine; but all parts suffer from a lack of drama, these are juxtaposed scenes without staging. --- Please note that the translation in english is done automatically, we apologize if the formulas are inaccurate.
