Commence à écrire, sous le nom de Romain Gary, à partir de 1945. A partir de 1974, a aussi écrit sous le pseud. d'Émile Ajar. Cette supercherie littéraire n'a été dévoilée qu'après sa mort par son neveu Paul Pavlowitch qui avait incarné le personnage d'Emile Ajar. Lieu de naissance : Vilnius (Lituanie). Lieu de décès : Paris (France)

    Signed and inscribed by Romain Gary to Jean Tranape, Companion of Liberation, who enlisted in September 1940, after New Caledonia joined the Free French Forces, and fought in Commander Félix Broche's bataillon du Pacifique.
    A hero of the battle of Bir Hakeim, he was wounded during the Italian campaign and again in the fighting to liberate Toulon. He was flag-bearer for the 1st Marine Infantry Battalion during the victory parade on the Champs-Elysées.
