"Jean Journet, nicknamed the Apostle, was a picturesque and eccentric Parisian figure, often mocked by his contemporaries. A former carbonaro, pharmacist in Limoux, he discovered Fourier's philosophy and decided to spread his doctrine by abandoning his family and taking up his pilgrim's staff. His humanitarian evangelism, advocating fraternity and association, led him to write numerous pamphlets which he distributed in untimely fashion: by throwing them from the 'paradise' in theaters or by besieging famous writers and editorial offices. Committed several times to Bicêtre, Journet found at his death a defender in Nadar who published an article in Le Figaro on October 27, 1861, thus concluded:
" Ah my dear madmen ! how much better I love you than all these wise men. "
Nadar draws inspiration from Spanish Golden Age painting to render " this blazing head of Saint Peter ".
