Appearing every five days, the review was interested in literature as well as sciences, fine arts, and social customs. It published mainly historical chronicles, travel accounts, and society pieces about France or foreign countries, stories and novellas, or sections devoted to theater, fashion, court news, and miscellaneous facts, most often reprinted from other newspapers of the period.
