Exceptional collection of 111 different pieces (Declarations, edicts, decrees, letters patent) of laws and decrees from the end of Louis XV's reign to the first part of Louis XVI's reign. A manuscript pagination links the different pieces together; furthermore a manuscript hand has taken the trouble to write the table of contents of the numerous and different pieces constituting this collection. Full blonde marbled sheep binding. Spine with raised bands richly and elegantly decorated; gilt roll at head and foot. Red morocco title label. Head cap partly worn. Rubbing. Blue speckled edges. Good copy. The two lits de justice of April 1771 and November 1774 cancel each other out, Louis XV dismissing numerous parliamentarians and Louis XVI restoring them to their functions. The collection of edicts and other decrees gives an account not only of justice under Louis XVI, but also of the economic state and finances of the government.
