Wallenstein is a dramatic trilogy. The three parts are Wallenstein's Camp, The Piccolomini and The Death of Wallenstein. The trilogy features generalissimo Albrecht von Wallenstein, Duke of Friedland, commander of Ferdinand II's army. He chooses to forge a secret alliance with the Swedes, thus plotting against the Emperor. Unmasked by certain officers including Ottavio Piccolomini, the situation balances between pro and anti-Wallenstein factions. He will be assassinated for having overshadowed imperial power.
