Pierre BONNARD
Lettre autographe signée d'une page et demie
Saint-Honoré les bains, Nièvre [Saint-Honoré-les-Bains] 17 Juin 1920|10.50 x 17.50 cm|une feuille
Letter autograph signed by a page and a half in which Pierre Bonnard responds favorably to a request for reproduction of his works in the artistic magazine "Art and decoration".
First of all, he recalls the friendship that linked his correspondent, Léon Deshairs, to Paul Signac: "I remember your name as pronounced Signac." while regretting not being able to help him physically in his request of choice of photographs of his works for an article concerning his painting because he is traveling: "I am traveling, that's why I can not help you in the choice of color photography I only send you my permission for the reproductions and you are invited to recommend me to a seller of the Bernheim house. "
Finally, Pierre Bonnard advises him, in order to advance his business, to get in touch with certain people : "Mr Ebstein, for example, to make it easier for you to choose a painting to reproduce in color." Mr de Traz wrote good articles on my painting. "
Finally, Pierre Bonnard gives his agreement for the reproduction of the works chosen by Léon Deshairs: "I authorize Mr. Deshairs to reproduce in Art and Decoration 10 canvases plus one in colors Bonnard, June 17, 1920."

Dear Sir
I remember your name well as it was often mentioned by [Paul] Signac. I'm currently on a trip, so I can hardly help you in your choice of a color photograph [of my painting].
I shall only send you my authorization for the reproductions and I urge you to refer directly to a salesman of the Bernheim house, Mr. Ebstein for example, to facilitate your choice of a painting to be reproduced in color. Mr. [Robert] de Traz wrote good articles about my work.
Believe Sir in my best sentiment
[written on back] I authorize Mr. Deshairs to reproduce in Art et Décoration 10 paintings plus one in color.
