Heavyweight Summer Beach Reads

Ravenous readers, set aside short tales and order à la carte from our selection of literary heavyweights: epics, sagas, odysseys, sweeping frescoes, monumental novels, cycles, tetralogies…

Masterpieces to be savoured without restraint—right down to the very marrow of their substance!

Short Stories & TalesShort Stories & Tales
Short Stories & Tales

Instead of searching for lost time, try finding it again with a short story: they are often the finest fare, and at the tale end, these brief accounts prove joys beyond compare. So let the simple heart of Bartleby transform the balls of tallow into the Venus of Ille…

Pardon my non-french! You are all forgiven, you strange strangers who delight us with your torrents of tongue, your lexicons of legend, your diamonds of idiom. Let us relish the ripeness of your rhetoric, the wild, unheard-of wonders you weave, told in the tongue of Shakespeare, Goethe, Li Po, Dante, Cervantes, Khayyam, Sappho - or in the translations of Gide, Nerval, Judith Gauthier, Rivarol, Oudin, Toussaint, or Renée Vivien!

Our Great ModernsOur Great Moderns
Our Great Moderns

A traversal through the works of those who have been writing, imagining, and creating since the late twentieth century. This selection brings together pieces that mirror the shifts of an era — literary gestures, singular voices, new perspectives. Each book and object has been chosen to capture, through its material presence, the living imprint of our contemporaries.

The Art Newspaper

Des feuilles d'automne à foison

Every year since 1984, on the initiative of the Syndicat national de la librairie ancienne et moderne (SLAM), one of the world's largest libraries has been held in Paris. The Salon du livre rare & des arts graphiques brings together the most advanced booksellers in all fields of bibliophily.

Every year since 1984, on the initiative of the Syndicat national de la librairie ancienne et moderne (SLAM), one of the world's largest libraries has been held in Paris. The Salon du livre rare & des arts graphiques brings together the most advanced booksellers in all fields of bibliophily. It acts as a mecca for the written and historical heritage of all those who are curious, professionals, enthusiasts or collectors of old leaves and beautiful illuminations. What's on the program? Lithographs, sanguines, prints, drawings, but above all thousands of old books and manuscripts, often unpublished, from all periods and at all prices.
Thanks to its originality and expertise, the event is increasingly well attended. Good news for a niche but dynamic market. After a successful 2022 edition, when almost 9,000 visitors came to inhale the fragrance of aged papers over three days, the event returns to the Grand Palais Éphémère, on the Champ-de-Mars, from September 22 to 24, 2023.

A RICH PROGRAM

Among the 140 exhibitors - from France and abroad - are Germans Michael Kühn and Hans Lindner, and Londoners Daniel Crouch, Sophie Schneideman, Peter Harrington and Shapero.
Rare Books. The latter notably presents Operas and Plays, one of 500 copies of a 1932 book by American writer Gertrude Stein, here dedicated to Colette. There are also a number of French names on show, including Stéphane Clavreuil, Les Enluminures, Le Feu Follet, Amélie Sourget, Jean-Baptiste de Proyart, Lardanchet and Versailles-based bookseller Le Manuscrit Français. Among the items on display are an original edition of Mao Zedong's Little Red Book and an autograph letter from Voltaire to the printer George Conrad Walther in 1748.

Though we do not crowd the media landscape, the praise we occasionally receive—unsought yet sincere—is as dear to us as the rare works it stemmed from.
