Umberto BRUNELLESCHI
(1879-1949)
Illustrator of La Gazette du Bon Ton
Italian artist Umberto Brunelleschi began working in the 1910s for the
Assiette au beurre under the pseudonym of Haroun al Rashid and collaborates with fashion magazines like
Le Journal des Dames and Methods, The Art and
Sheets Gazette du Bon tone. He makes prints thumbnails of poetry, including The Flower and the mirror where you can see a young woman in evening dress mirror itself in a mirror, a rose in hand, evoking a fairy princess. It is therefore not surprising that later, Brunelleschi turned to this genre illustrating Andersen, Boccaccio Perrault.
