Adveniat regnum tuum. (Matt. 6.10.). Gravure originale du XVIIe siècle

Maarten van HEEMSKERCK (inventor)

Adveniat regnum tuum. (Matt. 6.10.). Gravure originale du XVIIe siècle

S.n., s.l. [Hollande] (Circa 1600), 32,5x27,5cm (cuvette: 25x21cm), une feuille.

Original etching done with chisels from a painting of the sixteenth century Maerten Jacobszoon Heemskerk van Veen or Maarten van Heemskerck Marten, Maerten, Martin. Race on watermarked laid paper, working from the early seventeenth century. This is an illustration of the Gospel according to Matthew 6-10, "Thy kingdom come." (Our Father). Latin legend at the bottom of the engraving. Artist's signature in the plate. Legal numbered "2" on the bottom and in the bottom right corner in the engraving, and hand-written "48" marginal reference in the upper right corner. Watermark visible ring through. Foxing and foxing mainly marginal, small angular spots without damage to engraving, paper slightly creased and wrinkled from the fact that the etching is glued on another paper junior, otherwise very nice condition for this extremely rare engraving and whose drawing is still very fresh. Maerten van Heemskerk Jacobszoon Veen or Maarten van Heemskerck Marten, Maerten, Martin (1498 Heemskerk - 1st October 1574 in Haarlem) is a portrait and history major Dutch painters. He is famous for his series of the Seven Wonders of the World.
