Original Watercolor Louis Boulanger Our watercolor shows a scene from Act II of The Barber of Seville, famous play by Beaumarchais, taken in the early nineteenth century by Rossini in his eponymous opera. Rosine just write a letter to Lindor, was about to give it to Figaro. But here is meant Rosine's guardian, Bartolo, approach; causing the eagerness of Figaro prominently in our composition. Louis Boulanger (1806-1867) Romantic artist par excellence, friend Eugene Devéria, attended the literary circles of Paris, where he met George Sand but most notably Victor Hugo, where he became a close; one caller even "my painter." Louis Boulanger realized for Hugo, costumes and theater sets as well as portraits of famille.Il also participated in the illustration of many romantic books. La Maison Victor Hugo in Paris remains an important part of his work including the famous series of watercolor to Notre-Dame de Paris. This watercolor is in perfect condition. It is presented framed with Marie-Louise, in a Restoration period. Box size 39.5 x 34.5 cm.
