First illustrated edition of this anthology of poems by Victor Hugo collected by Pierre-Jules Hetzel under the pseudonym PJ Stahl, original edition's preface Sthal. Souze representative holding a child by strings each letter of the book title and author's name, decorated back caissons golden hinges and caps restored second dish with black central rosette to figure Hetzel signed Engel & Son, gilt edges. Signed autograph Victor Hugo Cecile Daubray: "To my lovely little Cosette ... April 3, 1878." An original photograph postcard size Cecile Daubray dressed as Cosette, presented in matte board and frame wooden stick.
