Signed book, First edition

Pierre DRIEU LA ROCHELLE Notes pour comprendre le siècle

Pierre DRIEU LA ROCHELLE

Notes pour comprendre le siècle

Gallimard, Paris 1941, 12x19cm, broché.

First edition, one of the copies of the Press. Important autograph dedication signed by the author Alexandra Sienkiewiz, called "Olesia" second wife "to Olesia / her old / Drieu." Their love was so intense ephemeral. In 1927, he wrote: "You have made me feel your tenderness with means so simple, so effective, that came to me so acute in the heart, almost hurt me" and just one year later "I know (...) how much effort you did not call me. I thank you dearly. I love you imagine free, happy and strong. ". They divorced in 1931 and, while Drieu falls in love with Victoria Occampo, Olesia takes comfort in the arms of Jacques Lacan. "Man covered woman" will still remain attached to this fleeting love, as evidenced by the dedication of full complicity. Back slightly irradiated, tiny light spots on the front cover. Provenance: from the library of Alexandra Sienkiewicz, called "Olesia" second wife of Pierre Drieu la Rochelle.
