Lettres d'Adélaïde de Dammartin, Comtesse de Sancerre, à Monsieur le Comte de Nance son ami

Chez Humblot, à Paris 1771, in-12 (9,5x16,5cm), (8) 242pp., relié.

Second edition, published after the original from 1767. Calf iced Full time. Smooth back decorated. Part of title in red morocco. A wormhole on the part of title, 2 on the top plate. A pale wetness in addition to the 3 first pages; with a tear sheet lacks 71 without achieving any text. Marie-Jeanne Riccoboni (1713-1792), was, after a mediocre actress by necessity, much appreciated novelist of his time, so much so that his peers refused to acknowledge that the author was a woman. His first novel was an immediate success and the following were better received, rented for the smoothness of style and attention to details, placing Madam Riccoboni among the best novelists of the eighteenth century. His work is mainly a reflection of the status of women of her time, she draws together towards Romanticism affirming the primacy of reason and the heart of social conventions. This novel is one of a group of women made independent by widowhood, and finally released. --- Please note that the translation in english is done automatically, we apologize if the formulas are inaccurate.
