Beautiful typographic tiny edition with commentary distributed around the text. Text in a red frame. Engraved title, with Renaissance-type frame.
Illustrated edition of 27 photographs pasted albuminous as thumbnails at the top of chapters, while the photographic process to albumin had been invented in 1850.
Bound in full black morocco signed Smeers, 1871. spine tooled raised 4 irons. Hot boards struck a rich central medallion and corner irons nets coaching cold. Inétrieure wide lace. Gilt edges. Slight rubbing to upper jaws head, tail and corners.
Very nice copy, clearly established in a binding master.
