Note the amazing diversity in typographic illustration (text frames, cul-de-lamp ...). Woods Gavarni satirical captions and are illustrative incredible profusion, as early comics. Half shagreen red time. Back with false nerves decorated nets cold and golden. Back of Volume I slightly thinned. Restore the corner in the right margin of the title page of Volume I. Some frictions, otherwise good copy. Interior immaculate and very fine autograph dedication of the author. Rare in this condition. Extraordinary and typically romantic book, Devil in Paris brings together texts by the renowned (philosophy of domestic life Balzac Mimi Pinson de Musset ...) and provide them with an abundant illustration. This type of book follows the enormous success that met the Physiologies and crunches characters Parisian moral and physical. The first volume is preceded by a history of Paris by Lavallée and the second a geography of Paris (end of volume statistics Paris).
