Binding to bradel half calico cherry corners, smooth back slightly once adorned a bookplate golden floral pattern, double gold thread date and tail, part of title grief navy dishes marbled paper covers preserved, glued to the back of the first flat, contemporary binding. Autograph signed by the author to his friend the painter Giacomelli. In 1866, Zola noted in "My Haines' talent Giacomelli:" [Giacomelli] has enriched the Bible [ornaments] of exquisite delicacy. (...) There is a strange contrast between the purity of its lines and the feverish and tormented line Gustave Doré. These are but I know that mere ornaments, but they reflect a true artistic feeling full of taste and grace. I would like to see him do his work apart.
