First Edition. illustrated as a frontispiece designed by Gazard and engraved by Patas, and three prints by Larrieu, engraved by the same. Sheepskin half red mid nineteenth century. Back smooth threads. Good copy. Barnabas Farmian Durosy or Rozoi (1745-1792) was a journalist and man of letters Toulouse, both playwright, poet, novelist, historian and essayist. Founder and editor of a royalist newspaper in 1789, he was the first journalist to die guillotined during the Terror. Henri IV and the Battle of Ivry, is deemed worthy of twenty performances in Paris, Versailles, Toulouse and Brussels between 1774 and 1795. Antoine Rivarol seems to have been the only one to get excited about his lyrical work. Must, wrote in 1788 the author of the Disboard on the universality of the French language, as "poetic youth" forget "the Voltaire, Racine and Corneille" and take a model whose name "flies from mouth to mouth on the wing of vaudeville.
