First Edition collective. Title pages in red and black. Full calf time scales. Back tooled raised. Parts of titles in red morocco. Caps heads slightly frayed; ditto for 6 caps tail. Upper jaw of volumes II, III, IV, V, VIII, IX and X in part split. Many corners bumped. Most false securities have not been linked in volumes. Despite these shortcomings, a good set of general appearance, decorative. In addition to works of poetry, drama, criticism, fables, various letters can be found in this edition of De La Motte and his famous correspondence with the Duchess of Lambert at the end of his life. We note that he was the author of L'Europe Galante and therefore he introduced three innovations in opera: ballet, and pastoral comedy-ballet. But more than his stories or tragedies, although they had considerable success in their time, it must be remembered, for his critical writing of the place that the author held in the literary life of his time, including in the quarrel between the ancients and moderns, De La Motte having repeatedly defended the use of modern, advocating the use of the theater prose and poetry, suspecting any pre-established rule of straitjacket creation. --- Please note that the translation in english is done automatically, we apologize if the formulas are inaccurate.
