MAN RAY & Dora MAAR Le temps déborde

MAN RAY & Dora MAAR

Paul ELUARD (sous le pseudonyme de) Didier DESROCHES

Le temps déborde

Editions Cahier d'art, Paris 1947, 18,5x24,5cm, broché.

first edition printed in 500 numbered copies. "The paper necessary for the production of this work was offered by Gallimard, but we could only print 258 copies and not 500 as the announcement completed printing" (according to a note from Paul Eluard).
Illustrated book of 11 photographs of Nusch Eluard, tragically disappeared a few months earlier, by Man Ray and Dora Maar.
Time Overflows is a collection of 11 poems, published in 1947 a few months after the sudden and unexpected death of Nusch, the companion of Paul Eluard. This ode to their seventeen years of life together is illustrated with striking portraits of Nusch in a state of pure beauty.
In 1965, Aragon, during a tribute to his friend, will return to his discovery of this masterpiece:
"He signed it with an invented name Didier Desroches, because he had killed Paul Eluard. I let him say. What he had shown me about Didier was incredibly beautiful. This little book which must have seemed like the work of a stranger is an understatement to say that in my eyes it surpasses all that Eluard signed with his name. I thought it then, and I think it today. "

Rare and beautiful copy.
