Binding in half sheepskin vintage wine. Smooth back decorated with series of nets. Golden title and number. Back evenly lightened. Some foxinges at the start of work if not very fresh.
First work by George Eliot which was immediately recognized as important despite a small circulation, and which received the approval of Dickens.
