First complete edition. The publishing business started in 1839 and it is possible to find the first volumes by that date, but the publication extended well for the last volumes until 1842. Illustrated with 121 portraits of Jeanron engraved on steel.
Binding in half chagrin green pine of epoch. Back with nerves with decorated boxes. Black title and cut pieces. Black fillets and golden fillets. . Beautiful decorative series. Very fresh, free from foxing.
Vasari (1511-1574) is the author of the precious and very famous collection, The Lives of the Best Italian Painters, Sculptors and Architects (Le Vite de 'più eccellenti pittori, scultori e architettori italiani) (1550-1570). He is the first to use the term Renaissance to describe his time. This work is of fundamental importance because it poses the methodological premises of the History of art. It brings together the biographies of the Italian painter from Cimabue to Michelangelo. In addition, Vasari will realize for the Medici the corridor that will link the Palazzo Vecchio to the Palazzo Pitti.
