First edition, rare, illustrated with 15 folding plates designed by Christopher Wren and Richard Lower. Full period calf. Back tooled raised. Higher Cap threadbare. 2 corners bumped. Pretty good copy. Fundamental work in the field, this is indeed the most comprehensive treaty and most successful that has appeared before. It assists for the first time to the foundation of the central nervous system. Reference to the mid-nineteenth century, the book was a breviary for anatomists until the late eighteenth.
