TERTULLIEN Opera D. Septimii Florentis Tertulliani Carthagensis

TERTULLIEN

Opera D. Septimii Florentis Tertulliani Carthagensis

Apud Carolam Guillard, Lutetiae Parisiorum [Parisiis] 1545, In-Folio (22x32,5cm), (6f.) 306ff. (21f.). Sig. [croix latine]6, a-z8, A-S8., relié.

Edition of Tertullien's works by Jean de Gagny and Martin Mesnart, based on 2 notes on the back of the title. Beautiful mark of the printer in title page. This edition contains 11 more treatises than the previous editions of Tertullian's works, two of which, entitled "De Trinitate" and "De cibis Judaicis", are actually due to Novatian. Edition whose privilege was shared with Jean de Roigny. Adams T408. Notes and life of Tertullian by Beatus Rhenanum. This edition is based on the one made by Beatus Rhenanum in 1539 in Basel.
Binding full brown calf vintage. Back to silent nerves. Elapsed headdress with slots in the joints. Snags at the first nerve. Blunt corners. Traces of wetting in the central margin and those of the top on the whole of the work, clear enough, then fading, returning then. On the last 50 pages, trace of wetness on half of the sheets, rather clear and little annoying.
