New edition, reproducing one originally published by the same publisher in 1573.
84 letters, text of 36 lines.
Recovery binder full vintage parchment. Smooth back. Caisson bottom awkwardly restored and a lack angular on the bottom corner of the second dish. Light worm work on the first guard and the first three layers without damage to the text. A pale wetness on the lower margin of half the volume. Handwritten words on title page "ExLB MMagdal Rochesse 1713".
Theodore Beza sums up in his person and Christian humanism; primarily clergyman, he was the undisputed leader of Protestantism from 1575 and ran for fifty years after Calvin Church of Geneva. He was also Latinist and Hellenist, playwright, poet and artist, statesman and diplomat in the service of the cause of the Reformation as evidenced widely correspondence. By its immense correspondence which exceeds in magnitude to those already prodigious Heinrich Bullinger and Calvin, he organized and encouraged the defense of the Reformed faith throughout the European continent. This edition brings together the letters of a theologian and controversialist Beza, concerned with political reflection.
