New edition, reprint of the increased volume of the second edition 1740. It is illustrated with a portrait and a curious allegorical figure in the first volume, as well as a large thumbnail title to the Epistle .. Pages titles in red and black. Full mottled calf iced contemporary. Part of title and volume number in red morocco. 3 corners bumped. Slight crack in the upper joint of Volume II. Despite the shortcomings announced, fine copy, in a very handsome appearance. Implementation of a free thinker of the Enlightenment, the philosophy of common sense is an examination of prejudice and all branches of knowledge in the light of the assumption of skepticism; the author of this assumption uncertainty is beneficial as to the truth of things; the book was considered dangerous enough to be banned by the Parliament and thus Argens wrote most of his books in Holland paper, in the shelter of an arrest. Although praised by Voltaire, the work was condemned by Kant. --- Please note that the translation in english is done automatically, we apologize if the formulas are inaccurate.
