First Edition. A frontispiece representing Mercury whipping a satire. Full mottled calf late eighteenth century. Smooth back decorated. Part of title in red morocco. Rubbed Caps. Pamphlet against Boileau who had ridiculed in his satires. The book is an examination of the works of Boileau. Nicolas Pradon says Jacques Pradon (1632-1698) is the author of eight tragedies. He is most famous for his rivalry with Racine and the quality of its parts. Racine would have said: "The only difference between me and Pradon is that I can write.
