Melchior de POLIGNAC

L'anti Lucrèce

Chez Hippolyte-Louis Guerin et Jacques Guerin, Paris 1749, in 8 (15x22cm), (7 ff.) lxxxv, 229 pp. (2) , 388pp., deux tomes reliés en un volume.

First edition of this translation of Bougainville. Illustrated with a frontispiece portrait by Rigaud engraved by Daulle and 10 bands and 5 tail-lamp Eisen, engraved by Tardieu and Delafosse. Full Calf blond contemporary. Smooth back ornate. Part of title in red morocco. Caps frayed, corners bumped. Friction to the joints and borders. The prose translation of Bougainville tends to better highlight the philosophical qualities of this book, originally in Latin verse, published in 1745. This is not only a critique of the philosophy of Epicurus and Lucretius, but also a critique of ideas Sisters of Pierre Bayle and his disciples. The book played a role in the philosophical struggle. Interesting preface to Bougainville on philosophy. --- Please note that the translation in english is done automatically, we apologize if the formulas are inaccurate. Contact us for any information!
