New edition, illustrated with a frontispiece engraved by Picart Winkeles, 2 allegorical figures by van der Meer (the Epistle and the poetic art) and 6 figures after re-engraved by Picart Vinkeles to the lectern, 4 thumbnails title by van der Meer and by F. de Bakker. This edition is also published at Amsterdam Changuion. Picart Figures were taken from the edition of 1718 are printed on heavy paper.
Binding right calf antique scales. spine ornate nerves, castors head and tail. part of title and volume number in green morocco. Triple net framing on the boards. Green combed slices. A lack hitch with the head of Volume I; head cap of Volume II leveled; Lack head of Volume III. Several corners bumped. Corner right bottom bare. Despite the reported defects, fine binding, the look very decorative. Copy costs, with wide margins.
After the great edition of Boileau's works published in 1718 in folio format, and with the success the fine editions of this author have succeeded in 1722, 1729, 1745, with variations. This latest edition, printed well, whose subtle typographical variations are thinking of reducing a folio was revised and modernized the spelling; Boileau's pamphlet dealing with the Jesuits was restored, and a life of the author added.
