First edition

Caius Plinius Caecilius Secundus (dit) PLINE LE JEUNE Panegyrique de Trajan

Caius Plinius Caecilius Secundus (dit) PLINE LE JEUNE

Panegyrique de Trajan

Chez Antoine de Sommaville, à Paris 1638, in-4 (16,5x22,5cm), (28) 359pp., relié.

First edition of this translation of Pintail Ménardière. a thumbnail title to the effigy of the emperor (repeated after the preface). Velin full time. Smooth back with respect to red feather dimmed. Seam. This panegyric, we announced the first page of text, was given by Pliny the second before the senate, in the presence of the emperor, while Pliny was Consul. In fact, the speech by Pliny was much shorter than the latter and it was written to thank the emperor for having chosen as consul, it was only later that Pliny reshuffled his text fleshing historically and gave him this title. Some think that Trajan and discipline were close upon accession to power of Emperor. A preface by translator. --- Please note that the translation in english is done automatically, we apologize if the formulas are inaccurate. Contact us for any information!
