PASQUIER Les recherches de la France

PASQUIER

Les recherches de la France

Chez Laurent Sonnius, à Paris 1607, In 4 (17x23,6cm), (18) 1175pp. (84), relié.

Edition partly original, plus Book VII, table of contents, many additions and a portrait by Thomas de Leu Pasquier. This portrait was made in 1583 in Troyes and had never been incorporated into editions. This is the last edition of the lifetime of the author. Full contemporary calf. Back to nerves ornate. lack in head cover. A lack of leather on the top box. Upper joint split tail and head. Wormholes on a portion of the upper plate. Encyclopedic work and very famous, France's research differ among all works of this kind by its radical novelty. Pasquier can be considered the father of modern history, the nascent history as a discipline and then away from the legend and literature. Chapter VII, very different from the others because those are attached to research on ancient France, is interested in the formation of the French language; part is devoted to the Pleiades, which Pasquier was a member. Chapter VI was already involved in the origin of French poetry. --- Please note that the translation in english is done automatically, we apologize if the formulas are inaccurate.
