First Edition. Copy riddled with a frontispiece. Full mottled calf time. Back tooled raised. Part of title in red morocco. Head cap weakened. 3 corners bumped. Pretty good copy. The book was originally written in response to a book by Antoine Court (1695-1760), Letter from a patriot of civil tolerance of Protestants of France and the advantages résulteroient for the kingdom (1756); this is why it is written in the vocative. The author justified by historical and economic study seriously the revocation of the Edict of Nantes. "The author does a great display of" scholarship and science in the field of "political economy. Dissertation offers curious reseArches paper" (Michaud). This defense of intolerance provides very interesting remarks on demographics. Finally, the author provides economical solutions to overcome this demographic threat. Disssertation on the day of St. Bartholomew denies that it was a religious matter, and even deaths, and seeks to mitigate the historical significance.
