New edition after the original 1570 edition (1572 privilege), summary history of the Counts of Anjou has its own title page. The edition includes a portrait of the author. Although this book was reprinted several times, sixteenth editions are now well uncommon. 4th edition 'of a work which has had great success and is still good to see.' Brunet II, 1612. Bernard Girard (1535-1610) was born and died in Bordeaux, after the secretary of François de Noailles and becoming famous as a poet and historian, he was appointed by Charles IX of France in 1571, historian and genealogist the order of saint esptit by Henry III.
