First edition, rare. It was printed in Leiden by the heirs and the widow of John Elzevier. It will be noted that another edition of the same date in Peter Hammer has a different snack: (2) 501pp. and (2) 493pp. and therefore appears to contain less text than the one presented; it is unexplained curiosity.
Full Sheepskin blonde marbled time. Spine ribbed decorated with jewels compartmentalized. Part of title in red morocco, and volume number in black morocco. Head cover of Volume 1 with parts broken away; lack of volume 2 in head and tail. Lack of 1.5 cm along the upper jaw (to work). Coins for most blunt. Volume I slightly larger than 0.5cm Volume II. A translucent ink stain title page of Volume II of the flagship. Copy rather fine.
Bassompierres was imprisoned in the Bastille in 1631 for participating in the Day of dupes; he devoted his detention twelve years writing his memoirs (Journal of my life) and its embassies will be issued in 1668 In addition to being one of the most accomplished gentlemen of his time, continued Bassompierres two bright parallel careers as Henri IV and Louis XIII, military and diplomatic. These memories have always been particularly tasted, they bear the seal of the bitterness of imprisonment and are the work of a French gentleman. --- Please note that the translation in english is done automatically, we apologize if the formulas are inaccurate.
