Vansleb, German philologist and theologian, began serving Colbert for a proposed trip to Ethiopia, but it never went further than Egypt, where he spent 20 months to observe and collect information, multiplying excursions and trips . Vansleb never returns to the descriptions that have already been made by others (the pyramids), aware of its readers deliver entirely new information. If this is not the first relationship on Egypt, this is the first of a man long resident in the country; anyway it is one of the first, but the first in this way.
