Binding half blond sheepskin marbled time. Back to nerves adorned. title label in tawny morocco. Upper joint split at the top, and tail on 10 cm. Friction on the boards.
The work was originally written in response to a book by Antoine Court (1695-1760), A Patriot's Letter on the Civil Tolerance of the Protestants of France, and the Resultary Benefits to the Kingdom (1756); that is why it is written in the vocative. The author justifies, by means of a serious historical and economic study, the revocation of the Edict of Nantes. "The author makes a great display of erudition and science in the field of political economy.The Dissertation offers curious research" (Michaud). This defense of intolerance provides very interesting remarks about demography. The author finally gives economic solutions to get out of this demographic threat. The essay on St. Bartholomew Day denies that it was a religious affair, and even the number of deaths, and seeks to diminish its historical importance. The book raised great indignation, especially those of Voltaire.
