Scuffs on the boards. This is the first such treaty on how to dye wool and most important work of the author, Jean Hellot (1685-1766) Analyst renowned chemist and an industrial chemist. This is a practical treatise, which details the preparations and discusses techniques, and was a huge success thus in Europe where it was applied everywhere. Hellot was appointed Inspector General of dyeing the kingdom in 1740 and the treaty seems to be the result of his observations. Similarly, he was later appointed to the Vincennes porcelain factory where he invented the formula of turquoise (blue Hellot) used for the first service commissioned by Louis XV.
